Standard mercury lamps are great for a lot of things, but they hit a wall when you’re dealing with thick ink or heavy pigments. They just can’t get deep enough. That’s where gallium iodide (GaI) comes in.
Why the “Doping” Actually Matters
Most UV lamps hang out around 254nm. That’s fine for thin stuff, but for the heavy lifters, you need a shift. By adding gallium iodide, we push that light into the 300nm to 400nm range. Think of it as the difference between a flashlight and a spotlight. Instead of just scorching the surface, this light actuallypunches throughthe opaque layers. The Heat Problem (And How to Fix It)

If your cooling fans are old or your water jackets aren’t up to the task, you’re going to have a bad time. Your tubes will burn out faster, or worse, your substrate will warp right under the lamp. We’ll sit down with you and look at your conveyor speed to make sure the power matches the cooling. It’s all about balance.
Making It Work in the Real World
These aren’t the kind of bulbs you just grab off a shelf. The chemistry of gallium is tricky, so we use specialized electrodes and quartz envelopes to keep things stable. One quick tip: check your voltage. If you wire these into your ballast and over-drive them, you’ll fry the electrodes in no time. Stick to the specs. But we do more than just ship you a box and wish you luck. We want to know about your ink viscosity and how fast your line is moving.
